Linux 3.0 Kernel is Final!
After 15 years Linus finally approved Linux Kernel version 3.0. This kernel brings new improvements for newer devices. As of new features? There is NOTHING! We don't understand Tolvards decisions sometimes, but I do agree with the point that it shouldn't matter what version comes out as long as something has changed enough for a 15 year version change.
The final version will come out in August on the 20th Anniversary.
Coinstar Hack

| So, you go digging through your couch and you find somewhere around $200 in loose change and you REALLY don't want to count all of that yourself. Fortunately, god invented CoinStar to do that for you. Unfortunately, CoinStar charges you somewhere around 9% for its services. This is why you want to learn how to hack a CoinStar.

| Recently, CoinStar started a campaign where they won't charge you any fee if you turn your coins into iTunes gift cards, Amazon gift cards, or Virgin mobile cards. The machine doesn't actually give you any cards, but rather PINs which can be typed in on the sponsor's site and redeemed for their value. This works because the CoinStar machine has the power of the internets. |
| How to do it |
| This is really quite simple. Follow the directions as usual, but when it asks how you would like your money, make sure to pick the iTunes gift card. After it counts all of your change, the machine will ask you how much of your money you want as a gift card and how much you want as cash. Go ahead and set it all to gift card. Now, before proceeding, you need to find a way to unplug the phone jack from the back of the machine. I'm lucky because the wall phone jack for my local CoinStar is at about shoulder height right next to the machine.
Now the poor machine is in quite a pickle. It already has all of your change, and it can't give that back to you. It can't give you an iTunes card either. It could give you cash, but it's not going to lay that 9% fee on because you obviously didn't agree to that when you put your change in the machine. What can it do? Give you cash for FREE. After a few minutes of trying, it will simply give up and just give you a slip which can be redeemed for cash at the store customer service counter. |

HTC gets rid of locked bootloader policy, WIN!
After the locked bootloaders of the Thunderbolt, Incredible S, Sensation and the EVO 3D, we finally get unlocked bootloader back from HTC. I'm guessing that current phones like the ones I listed will be stuck with the locked bootloader but future phones to come will have unlocked bootloaders. Lets hope Motorola & Sony Ericsson follow HTC in unlocking their bootloaders to.

News Index Sites turn Paid.
Since the last free news indexer turned paid, nzb.su. I went ahead and created my own, but on the way to this point was interesting, as most providers charge 10 dollars for a year I was disappointed that something like such was not provided for free.
I went ahead with creating my own site http://news.tsunade.net/ this is available for free to anyone wanting to use it.
I will keep it free as long as it stays inside my bandwidth limit which I think it will, for now registration is open till 5,000 users is reached.
GoogleTV by Sony playing MKVs
So, I had a few MKVs, some with AC3 audio and some with DTS as I was browsing through my directories on my GoogleTV I ended up finding an MKV and figured i'd test the file and see if it'd work, and here I am writing this to just say that MKVs with either AC3 or DTS work on my GoogleTV, I had tested this in this past and it did not work so there has been an update that added this feature it seems.
Gentoo Linux on AppleTV
So I picked up a AppleTV. I'm installing Gentoo Linux on to it as I write this, will update with screenshots and clarified install instructions soon.
